The Ant who went to school

New books, new clothes and a new uniform.

A fresh start indeed he was to embark.

It was his first day at school and he looked perplexed,

At the talents each one of his classmates possessed.

Some could sing, some could fly,

While others ran a mile he barely imagined to cover in his lifetime.

"Size didn't matter" read the first chapter of his textbook,

The length of which he could only just fathom.

He had come afar to this school not so dear

To help support his mother in the dying stages of her cancer.

Final exams were around the corner,

And a surprise test was the modus operandi chosen by the professor.

He prepared through the night so long

And left no stones unturned in his study hall.

Then came the day of the test all feared,

Kaveri river the address he recalled.

Swim across in a minute was the task,

All managed the same expect the ant who drowned along the path.
